Regulatory Support

Leader:

Patricia Gordon, MD (CoM)

Penn State has regulatory support systems that strive to support and encourage innovative ethical research, while expecting absolute compliance with applicable regulatory standards.  Researchers are encouraged to embrace these regulatory processes to achieve an optimal balance between

regulatory imperatives and the urgency to conduct ethical and results-oriented research. The goal of the Regulatory Support initiative of the CTSI is to make these processes as efficient as possible and to encourage researchers embrace these regulatory processes to achieve an optimal balance between regulatory imperatives and the urgency to conduct ethical and results-oriented research.

Specific Aim 1: Integrate the regulatory support and oversight functions of the CTSI under the auspices of a simpler investigator-oriented CTSI.

Specific Aim 2: Increase investment in professional development and advocacy for physician investigator participation at all levels of the regulatory infrastructure.

Specific Aim 3: Enhance current educational efforts at the level of investigators, research personnel and administrators at every level to promote a zero-tolerance policy to non-compliance.
