The mission of the Clinical Research Program is to provide places, means, and, as a result, an incentive for Penn State researchers from a broad array of disciplines and University departments to conduct patient-oriented and community-centered clinical and translational research.
The centralized Clinical Research Program incorporates the services of the Clinical Research Center and Clinical Trials Office, but will also establish new sites and resources through collaboration with the Penn State School of Nursing (SON) and by strengthening established partnerships with community health clinics and hospitals. Our goal is to become one university with one Clinical Research program, but many sites in order to be able to respond flexibly to investigator needs.
A new feature of the Clinical Research program is LionShare, a human and web-based portal that serves the function of clinical research “concierge.” Services provided by LionShare include an integrated web portal, a research concierge service, and a team of experienced study coordinators who can answer questions and guide new investigators through regulatory submissions and other administrative hurdles in launching new translational research projects.
