BERD Recent Topics in Research Methods Seminar Series

April 25 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Speaker: Runze Li, Verne Willaman Professor of Statistics

Topic: Spurious Correlation and its impact on error variance estimation

In this talk, Dr. Li will first illustrate the spurious correlation in high dimensional data analysis and how spurious correlation influences the estimation error variance in high dimensional regression model. The second half of this talk will present an easy implemented procedure for error variance estimation in ultrahigh dimensional additive models. The strategy can be used for other parametric, nonparametric and semiparametric models.

Location: University Park – 116 Henderson, College of Medicine – H4510J
